2002 found me Feeling Nostalgic I
revisited Malta and St Andrews Barracks.
Home to 41 Commando Group Royal Marines
My Home from Nov 75 - May 77 I must admit I was
surprised that little had been done with the barracks since hearing
it was turned into a holiday camp... Whilst the ranges and
whole area had been developed and there was a new village there the
barracks buildings remained un-used or simply had a family occupying
the building (HQ Block and the Welfare and Cpl's Club)
Here is what I saw...

| |

This is all that remains of the 41 Club (NAAFI)
completely gutted both me and the building |
| |
| |

View from the path of the NAAFI looking onto the parade square and what was
the HQ Building
(Top Floor) and Easy Echo Company Lines (Ground Floor) with the Clock Tower
and
Guard Room far right |

| |

Same as above but with the Signals Classroom on the Left |
| |
| |

The Signals Store and Troop Office, This is where I paraded most days -
I do not recall the tree being there... |
| |
| |

Well this was my Grot Top Left as you look at the building - now partly
converted into
Holiday flats though abandoned some time ago - There was still evidence of
spilt
Yellow paint on the balcony (that's another story) |
| |
| |

The Cinema with it's roof caved in completely gutted. the road used to go
onto MT park. |

| |

This shot shows the QM's area to the left is where the Cinema is in the
previous picture. All empty. |
