Comments: I love this site!!!I am a ex-U.S. Marine, now U.S. Naval Reserve Journalist and graduate student studying International Studies with a specialisation in Great Britain/Commonwealth and Foreign and Defence Policy. I have always had a strong interest in the Royal Marines and Royal Navy since I was a kid as well as a collector of RM insignias, patches, and uniforms. I am looking for an RM Major/Lt. Colonel's peaked cap, sizes 56 through 58 as well as RM Captain's pips (bronze and gold anodised), and RM Captain's, Major's and Lt. Colonel's shoulder slip-ons for the wooly pooly sweater and battle dress. Please send condition and costs to (Or if you know where I can purchase such items) terrence.dillon@cgu.edu . These items would complete my collection, and any assistance provided in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Great site, Lots of nostaglia, sure beats the **** out of this 30 years of civvie street 'Ho-Hum'. Picked out some names I think I served with in 40 Cdo (anybody remember Operation Claret, across the border into Indonesia (Perepin) to teach the Commo's not to infiltrate!) Dicky Young took a hit in his bandolier via his temple - made a mess of his shirt, not to mention his back. Lucky sod got lifted out - we had to trog back. I digress, would like to contact Stu guthrie (S), we shared an Outliers locker in STW in '69, I borrowed his Lovatt tunic to see the CO for my release (mine was a bit grotty), it had his GSM on with Aden clasp, he transferred to the Aussie Navy -silly sod, so I have his medal and he has mine with Borneo clasp! Would like to hear from anyone in Sigs Tp 3Cdo '66-69. Some 'Bloody good volley-ball' opposite the Sigs Store.

Comments: This is a very well composed and informative website. It was inspiring to learn about the feats and marvels of the RM. There is great parallelism between the RM and the United States Marine Corps-the latter of which I am an enlisted member.I usually visit this website at least once a week to find out about any updates. It indeed was a great delight to visit this site.

However, I've alreadly learn lots of things about the Royal Marines and U.S. Marines, by mainly reading books and of course on the web. I have one sort of good friend who is an ex-Marine. I wish to have one really good friend from the Royal Marine. Because I respect you all who that kept defending our country's interests. Thank you for looking after us civilian out there!

Having been bountifully employed by the TA for the past 15 years, notching up 19 years as RQMS, thought it time to hang up the old boots and retire for good. Comments: To Andy O'Pray. Reference your question why so many ex booties end up spread around the world. In my case, when I took discharge(1973),there was not a lot of job opportunities for an ex Marine 1st Class, without a trade. Being RMs we are lucky enough to see 'greener partures' and so, perhaps gravitate back to them. (I fell in love with OZ after exercise 'Coral Sands' 1968!) By the way, I think you may have been one of my instructors on my HW3 Course in 1967? Regards, Busta Brown!

The April 2000 edition of the Argentine Army journal "Soldados" includes a major article headlined "Malvinas - A 18 anos del la Gesta" - loosely translated, the "heroic deed". "Soldados" also reviews British-published books on the 1982 War. Heading the recommendations at Number One is "Battle of Falkland's War" by Gordon Smith, published in 1989 by Ian Allan. Described as "a very useful and detailed guide to the day-by-day development of the war", the book is still available from online booksellers such as Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. But what makes this probably unique for a contemporary military history is that the full text is also on the Internet at http://www.naval-history.net. Through E-Bookshare, it will soon be possible to download the entire book, complete with photographs and week-by-week/day-by-day campaign maps. You can start with the Royal Marine's role at http://www.naval-history.net/F23cdobde.htm For more information, please contact Gordon Smith.

Comments: Just met J C Woods (Piloting for Devon Air Ambulance) who recommended this excellent site. I was in the Corps from 71-89. Mostly Mortar Troops in 40, 41 & 45 - although did do two stints with Navy at CHOSC and RNSETT - before leaving in a 'blaze' of glory!! Now working with Navy at Dartmouth as the Database Manager - although hoping to move to London soon. Be great to hear from ex-comrades. I am in regular contact with Paul Pitcher (who is bumming around S E Asia at the moment) so can forward messages or put you in touch. Great Site keep it up.
